My heart mourns the loss of my dear friend, David Seim. David was one of the most kind and humble men I have ever met. I don’t know a more loyal friend and faithful husband. He was a true servant leader and gave so much of his time and energy to making Lubbock a better community. I don’t use this phrase much, but David is one of my heroes.
When I decided to run for office, he was the first call I made outside of my family. I asked him to be the Chairman of my campaign because I (and this community) had such great respect for him. I would undoubtedly not have the privilege of serving West Texas in this role if it were not for David.
I first met David at a Christian leadership retreat. Our souls were instantly bonded. He was different. He was not caught up in the power and praise of leadership. He just wanted to serve and make a difference for his community and family. His philosophy was simple: love Jesus, care for your family, and serve your community.
I corresponded with David on Thanksgiving Day. Here’s an excerpt from his text to me, which will give you insight into this amazing person...
“We had a blessed day with our family as I hope you did... God is good, and we know we are in His hands. I hope to see you soon, and please let me know if I can ever be of help to you as you continue to live out a true servant’s heart.
Blessings,
David”
He was right. We are in God’s hands, and now, my brother, David, is in the loving arms of his Heavenly Father.
May we all aspire to have the same servant’s heart, glorifing God, caring for our family, and serving our community as well as he did.
